The Global Consumer Centre is a leading Ugandan civil society organization dedicated to advancing consumer protection, ethical business practices, and public interest advocacy. Established in 2002 as a Consumer Education Trust and subsequently rebranded as the Global Consumer Centre (CONSENT) in 2021, the organization has evolved into a nationally recognized institution that promotes accountable markets, informed consumer choices, and evidence-driven policy reforms. Today, CONSENT implements programmes across Kampala, Wakiso, Mbale, Gulu, Kasese, Fort Portal, and other districts throughout Uganda. CONSENT's work is anchored in a comprehensive approach that combines consumer awareness and education, research and evidence generation, policy advocacy, capacity strengthening, regulatory engagement, and the promotion of responsible business conduct. Through strategic partnerships with government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, academia, and the media, the organization contributes to strengthening governance systems that protect consumer rights while fostering sustainable and ethical market practices.

A proven four-step methodology that turns consumer complaints into systemic, lasting reform.
We conduct field surveys, market audits, and laboratory testing to identify consumer risks — from aflatoxin contamination to deceptive product labeling.
We draft policy briefs, table petitions with Parliament and regulatory bodies (UNBS, UCC, MoH), and engage the East African Community on regional standards.
We run grassroots workshops, market-vendor training, public awareness walks, and media campaigns to educate and empower consumers in every region of Uganda.
We operate a consumer complaint intake system, provide legal guidance, and escalate unresolved cases to regulators and law enforcement for enforcement.
We empower consumers to assert their rights, make informed decisions, and actively participate in decision-making. Through advocacy and sustainable dialogue, we champion responsible consumption and ethical practices for consumer and business benefit.
We generate comprehensive information resources, ensuring accessible advocacy, awareness, capacity building, and training programs. By equipping consumers with knowledge, we empower them to make informed choices and navigate the consumer landscape with confidence.
Through strategic collaborations, we strengthen capacities and build networks with like-minded organizations and individuals. Together, we amplify our impact and promote consumer welfare, social justice, and a fair marketplace.
